안개/Angae (Mist) by Kang Dong Won

Or as one could otherwise call it, "The best korean musical accompaniment to slitting your wrists". This is not a song you'll listen to when you need a little emotional uplifting. Unless this guy's sadness makes you somehow feel better about your own problems. Some swing that way. Some also like to get utterly depressed and get to the lowest emotional pit they can so that they vent out all the anger/sadness and feel better. Some swing that way too. Like yours truly. So this one's good for those moments as well. It's "multiplayer" (for those who have seen Full House).

The song is featured in Lee Myung Se's movie, M and is sang by BoA in the original soundtrack for it. Of course, her version sounds like she is talking about her day shopping at the mall and in no way conveys the sadness, loneliness and desperation that the song should convey. Instead, it feels like good trailer music for the next Sex & The City movie. Or something equally shallow about unrealistically beautiful and rich women and their fancy and decadent lifestyle. I'm not dissing BoA or her music here, but this is just what popped into my mind when I heard it. I am dissing this song and this performance though. Definitely.

I've noticed this issue in many korean films and series where both the cast and professional singers do versions of songs. Somehow, I always like the versions of the actors more. Even if they are not professionals. I guess it's because the actual singers try to keep their own distinctive style in the song without, sometimes, caring much about what kind of a feeling the work and song demand. They are also not in touch with the character or story the song represents. An actor or actress who plays the character who is "singing" has a better insight of what he/she should be feeling and expressing. The actors are also more inclined to change their style to fit the needs of the song. They don't have their own music style or image as singers to worry about so no one could say "Ah.. This is not a Insert_Name song". I might be talking out of my asphalt here, but this is just the feeling I have gotten from the different versions of such songs.

Anyway, enough textual (almost wrote something naughtier here) ramblings and onto the song. Together come lyrics in hangul, romanized and translated (in the spoiler tag bellow the video). Well, sort of translated. Not the best job, but you get the point. It's a sad friggin' song. No need for perfect english. The video also has lyrics.

Now, if you will excuse me while I fangirl over this. And about M, a short review might come up in the near future. It's a weird movie so I'm not going to pretend I understood most of it or try to write about all that. I'll write what I think. Like I always do. Also, I happen to be in a very good mood tonig.. this morning, so no need to ask if something happened (because I mentioned the depressing nature of the song). ;) Do I need a reason to listen to this man's lovely voice? Most certainly not.

The No No's of a Fangirl's Morning...

There are some basic no no's for the mornings of people like myself. Just as you're not supposed to drink alcohol in the morning, take pills on an empty stomach, put your hands in your mouth or eyes if you haven't washed after your latest "relief" or screw your best friend's guy/girl. All of those lead to problems.

In a very similar manner, exposing fangirls to certain stimuli in the wee hours of the morning, when they are most susceptible (and fangirls are naturally very susceptible), will upset their "waking the hell up, eventually" routine and cause the already severe daydreaming habit of theirs to reach dangerous levels. Colliding with walls, furniture, your mom and other structural elements, items, or loved ones in your house kind of dangerous. It therefore consumes precious energy in the form of what is known as fangirling. The condition during which:

- The heart rate is faster and the subject becomes tired without the benefits of physical exercise
- The eyes become blind to any surrounding happenings or possible danger
- The lips seem to form a long-lasting stupid smile (or dropped jaw) which is present during the entire time of the fangirling and also at random times during that day or for the next few days
- Any rational thought of the subject becomes muddled and is replaced by sickening romantic shallow thoughts of the "He's so handsome" or "OMG! This iz so dreamy xx OPPAAAA heartheart" variety
- The aforementioned excessive daydreaming is on hyper mode for at least the day of the exposure
- There are other various symptoms of this very harmful disease, including what is known as kyaaing (making screaming KYAAAAAAAA sounds caused by over excitement) and peer harassing with videos and photos of the subject of the kyaaing

So, getting back to the no no's mentioned in the title, there are some things one can subject the fangirl to in the morning that simply overload their poor obsession ridden heart. The following scene, which I was subjected to this morning in video form, has many of these traits, which I will soon mention.

Kang Dong Won - Chris.Christy Photoshoot, 2008

Ok, so I can't resist my fangirl urge and have to post this. Since I go through all the trouble to write them reviews, I should devote some posts to the actor and object of obsession himself. These are most of the pictures from Kang Dong Won's 2008 photoshoot for the clothing brand Chris.Christy.

Why I post these specific pictures, you ask? Well, frankly, I uploaded these to spam my mother with on Facebook, since she doesn't like the man's looks much and I am trying to convert her. Then I decided to post them on another forum and, since I had the code ready, I thought "Why the hell not". The reason for posting this specific photoshoot is because it is one of my favorites and I also found these really high quality pictures of it which made my little fangirl heart squeal.

Credit goes to the people involved and also Kang Dong Won's DC and Baidu galleries.

There are still some pictures and I will post them eventually, but this is good for now.

Special warning to Ecchan though. You know you can't click...

The rest of you who aren't terrified at the sight of him can click on the pictures for the bigger versions.
